The Romanian Sociologists Society (SSR) is an association of specialists who, through their professional activities, have contributed and continue to contribute to the scientific understanding of Romanian social, political, and economic realities. SSR was established at the initiative of sociologists from major university centers in Romania, bringing together researchers from all branches of sociology.
The primary aim of SSR is to promote the sociology profession and the research produced by Romanian specialists both nationally and internationally. Consequently, SSR members engage in: promoting high-quality higher education in sociology at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels; promoting sociological disciplines and topics in pre-university education programs; advancing sociological research as a tool for understanding society and enhancing the prestige of sociology within the national and international scientific community; forming and developing the community of Romanian sociologists, affirming and protecting its role in Romanian society and the international scientific community; affirming and protecting the professional status of sociologists; educating the population and national elites about sociology; defining, implementing, and promoting quality standards for sociological research and works; increasing the role of sociology in the development and application of public and corporate policies; and developing communication within the community of sociologists and between the community and society
